Zion National Park

Lane, Alesha, and Annika joined up with us for about 5 days of our trip.  We camped at this awesome campground just outside of Zion.  Beautiful river right at our campsite.  Pancakes for breakfast!

The campground had a swimming pool, but we really enjoyed swimming in this river the best!

The first day there we did several short hikes.  This one was up some narrows where the mountains close in on each other.

This one was to the "weeping wall".  Hence the "wall" sound with their mouths.

He found a dry spot!

Playing Duck-Duck-Goose on the lawn.  Tristan tagged Jason, so Jason had to play along!  :)

One is sleeping...two...almost!

A hike to the Emerald Pools was somewhat disappointing, but the scenery along the way was gorgeous!

Homemade swing thanks to the Carlson's climbing gear!  Unfortunately we didn't get to do any actual rock climbing.  This time of year no one climbs because the rocks get too hot in the 100+ degree weather and your hands can't handle the heat!

Our 2nd day in Zion we took a 5.2 mile hike up Angel's Landing.  We reached Scout Look-out a half mile from the top and took this picture.  The last 1/2 mile is on rocks with a chain to hold on to.  It is not safe for kids, so Jason and Lane did the last leg together.  Lane is going to send me some pictures of it, so stay tuned!

The view from Scout Look-out.  This was the best hike we did.  The weather was perfect (hot), the view was amazing, and the kids did awesome!!  It helped that Daddy promised them an ice cream if they got through it without complaining!
