Holiday Plans
Well, it's finally official. We bought our plane tickets today. We are going to South Carolina over the holidays. Cammy and Garrett both live there, and mom and dad are going to drive down and meet us, too. It should be a great 1.5 weeks! Hopefully the weather is warm! We haven't flown with two lap babies before, so hopefully the plane ride will be ok. We do have one quick stop, so I hope the boys aren't bothered by take offs and landings! Now that we have to pay for checked bags, I'm worried about how to pack to make sure that we have what we need. I'm assuming that if we brought car seats, we'd have to pay to check them. We are going to try to borrow some from Cammy's friends in SC so we don't have to drag them along. Any tips for me?

Most airlines don't count car seats as a checked bag. I would call ahead and check with the airline you are flying with.
I agree with the previous post. When we flew to Hawaii (can't remember which airline...Hawaiian I think (go figure!)) I assumed that the carseat counted, then found out we could have checked it with the jogger stroller atttached at the gate! Definitely check! Sounds like it will be a fun trip!
When we flew to WI this fall, we got two checked pieces of luggage per infant (we flew on Air Canada). I'm sure it's different with every airlines though.
Good luck with the plane ride and hope you have an awesome time! Here's a link with some ideas for keeping them busy on the plane. ^.~ Some are for older kids but there are lots of other good ideas that you could use.

I am so glad you guys get to go! Missing you all lots
When we fly, they don't count the car seats. "Baby gear" they call it. Don't put shoes on the kiddos, they make you take them off at security. Pack lots of snacks. New books.
Also if you freak out at the baggage check because the last minute books you crammed in your suitcase for bedtime throw you over the 50 lb limit and they want to charge you 50$, then throw the books at your husband and exclaim "WE WON'T BE READING AT BEDTIME I GUESS, JUST THROW THE BOOKS AWAY" . . . . They tend to let an extra bag pass "as baby gear" to calm you.
Don't do you hair, look really frazzled and quietly shed a tear or two. Wait to feed the kids until after you check in so are extra lethargic and sad looking. They will take pity on young parents traveling with 2 babies. . . . Really it works. Trust me.
Good luck! We have flown our kids A LOT with our families being all over the US. The challenge is to keep them from kicking the seat in front and pulling the tray up and down:) It was almost a relief when we had to pay. We always seem to ship a box ahead of time. It was easier than lugging everything and may be cheaper now. ENJOY....missed you at Thanksgiving.
