Our Weekend

Crazy Cousins

Andersons new rock work compliments of Sanderson Brothers Construction (taken before it was grouted).

We had another fun Saturday. The guys played basketball, the girls visited, and the kids did what kids do best. Wade was extra clingy (2 new teeth), so when he finally climbed off of my lap, I had to get his picture!

Inquisitive Gwyndolyn

It was a pretty good spread for a last-minute potluck. Thanks for organizing, Josh and Trese.

Brother Pile. Sometimes Tristan stacks up his stuffed animals and says, "Look, Mommy, Pig Pile!"

Wrestling Daddy

Tawn with her arms full. I have a similar picture shortly after Gwyndolyn was born. They were probably half the load that they are now.

Wade was exhausted and sacked out on the floor. Notice Tristan's underwear??

I was trying to get a picture of the black eye that Tristan got when he bonked heads with his cousin.

Or maybe this is how he got the black eye! Thanks for the picture idea, Josh!

Potty Training

Sorry for the lack of updates...I'm actually a couple of weeks behind on my posting, but we are house-sitting and I don't have access to my computer with my pictures. I read an article in the newspaper on Friday about potty-training. It was recommended that you just explain to your child that there will be no more diapers and they are expected to just use the bathroom. There will be a lot of laundry the first few days, but then they're trained. So, I'm trying it with Tristan. Today is day 1 and we are on outfit #5. I'm running the daycare all week, so I figured it was a good time to try, because I won't be going anywhere anyway. If he doesn't seem to improve or be interested after this week I may give up for awhile. I'd like to know if some of you have done that Potty-Training in a Day thing and if that has worked. How does that work? Tips and advice (and laundry help) would be appreciated. :)

Hiking in the Hills

Last week we had a couple of really nice days. Jason, the boys, and I went hiking in the hills surrounding Chelan.

Overlooking the currently dry river.

When we crested a hill, we came face to face with a herd of Bighorn Sheep. We were about 50 feet away when we first saw them, but by the time I got my camera out to get their picture, they had moved on.

It was fun watching them navigate the rocks so smoothly.

Across the road

And up the other side

We saw a coyote, so Jason took off after it. Believe it or not, he wasn't able to catch up with it. :)_

Foundation

Jason and Shawn are starting a new house. This is the complex foundation that the house will sit on. The lot is very steep and the walls are 12" thick and the lower one is 20 ft tall! The upper one is 15 ft.

An awesome view!

These pictures don't do justice to the steep grade of the lot.

Other News

We have been attending the "Infant, Waddler, and Toddler" storytime at the library. We have fun playing on the mats and singing songs.

They set up a wall at the library that commemorates the firsts that happened there. Because that was where Wade took his first step, they have his picture up there.

We had a sunny day last week, and I had to get a picture of the sun shimmering on the lake.

Another view of the winter beauty.

Another sunny day!! Going for a walk.

I came out of my bedroom and found the boys munching on a gummy worm that they had found and split. I later found part of the gummy worm in the dryer. :

We watched Jared's wrestling tournament. Rod and Carolyn were in charge of announcing the matches.

Jared (black singlet) ended up getting pinned in this match....look at the size of the guy he was wrestling, though!

Happy Birthday, Wade!

Today is Wade's birthday. He had his one year well-child check this morning. He is 19 lbs 12 oz (10%) and 28 1/2 inches long (10%). His head is 45 cm (10%). He's small, but proportional. He had to get 4 shots...boo hoo, so now he is napping. We had Mom, Dad, and Leah here this weekend, so we celebrated Wade's birthday with them.

Leah and Ashlyn dressed up like Fancy Nancy for the party.

Grandpa brought Wade a couple of balloons.

He had a little help blowing out the candle.

Yummy!

Digging into the loot.

He thought it was fun to climb on the box. It took awhile for him to rip the paper open...we thought we might still be there by his 2nd birthday!

He got an activity table, a new dump truck riding toy, a dog that tells body parts and sings songs, and a construction set. Fun!

Tristan had fun with the box.

His strap broke and he started losing his pants.

So we got him down to his "birthday suit" and took a bath.

Tristan and Caleb play with the play-doh that Martha made for us.

How I Know I'm Sick Today...

  • My ear hurts.
  • Tristan knocked over my piles of nicely folded laundry, and I didn't care.
  • I don't feel like eating sweets!!
  • Tristan came out of my bedroom wearing one of my bras, and I didn't even smile! (Normally he's not allowed in our room without me, and he's not allowed to dig through the drawers, and he's definitely not allowed to try on female undergarments!)
  • I'm holding Wade way too much. (I'm trying to get him to be less clingy, but I just don't have the energy today.)
  • I'm not going to upload any pictures to this post.
  • I baked fresh bread and don't even feel like eating any of it!
  • I'm skipping out on storytime.
  • I put Tristan in the high chair and gave him crayons, paper, and animal crackers.
  • I'm wearing sweats.
  • The boys are wearing sweats. I dressed them how I felt.

Wade and Brielle's 1st Birthday Party

Wade and Brielle are 11 days apart, so Julianne and I decided to get a bunch of moms and kids together for a little birthday party.

We had boy and girl cupcake balloons held by a bear.

The kids had fun playing with each other and with Brielle's toys!

Blowing out the candles safely.

Dig in!

Got some on my fingers.

Am I allowed to eat this, mom?

Brielle was much more neat.

Yummy!
